BAMS stands for Bachelors of Ayurvedic medicine and surgery. It is a professional course that one can pursue after completing the 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mainstream. Having knowledge about Sanskrit will be an added benefit. It is mandatory to appear in National Eligibility Entrance Test or state level Government examinations.
12th standard with science or any other equivalent examination recognized by concerned State Government and Education Boards with at least 50% aggregate marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Further, State Govt. guidelines are applicable.

You spare your one year of internship with live practical. There is a List of BAMS Colleges in Maharashtra offering 5 years and 6 months degree program. The degree is divided into three sections, 1.5 each. In the first section, you learn about the anatomy of Ayurveda, physiology of Ayurvedic system, and History of Ayurveda. At second level, it will be all about Ayurvedic pharmacology and toxicology. The final course gives an exposure to the surgery, ENT, Gynecology, and Obstetrics.
